Elizabeth Pickett is a recent graduate of Westbury Christian School in Houston, Texas and is attending UNT in the fall to pursue Photojournalism. She attended this workshop to increase her experience and familiarize herself with several methods of journalism. Being here fuels her passion for telling stories through all forms of media.
Alicia Babcock is a senior at Duncanville High School in Duncanville, Texas. She’s a street photographer and wants to work at Vogue one day. She takes photos for Skills USA, the Daddy-Daughter Dance in Duncanville, the Black History program at her school and for Santoney’s Business Center. Alicia hopes to gain more experience before she leaves for college and is pushing herself until she reaches her goal.
Neha Madhira is a senior at Prosper High School and is editor-in-chief of her school’s online newspaper. Madhira strongly believes in student press freedom and is fighting to get the New Voices law passed in Texas. She is here to gain more experience in the world of storytelling in hopes she can use these skills to show others why their voices can make an impact.
Maddie Cargile is a senior at Wakeland High School. She is an editor for the yearbook staff, a senior producer for her school broadcast program as well as Frisco ISD-TV, the broadcast program at the off-campus CTE Center. Outside of school, she is a photographer for a local website. In her free time, she is active in her church, teaching kids and participating in youth group events. She is at the workshop because journalism is her passion and is always wanting to learn more while actively doing what she loves and meeting new friends who have the same interests.
Sarah Hendartono is a junior at Grapevine High School. She is the associate editor for her school’s yearbook and participates in state UIL feature writing. Hendartono is interested in print journalism but hopes to expand her skills in using audio and video.
Ellen Daly is a senior at Bishop Lynch High School, and she loves to write about current events and social issues. She is attending the workshop to increase her knowledge of journalism and gain experience with storytelling through different multimedia platforms.
Kennedy McGilvery is a senior at Lone Star High School. She is a varsity Track and Field athlete and a senior producer for Frisco ISD-TV. McGilvery is also the owner of her own photography company, Klever Pictures. She hopes to double major in journalism and digital media and minor in mass communication in the fall of 2019 at a college of her choice.
